Chiru Goes Mum After Komaram Controversy

Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi has virtually gone into hiding after making the controversial remarks against Osmania University students, alleging that they had demanded money for the release of his brother’s film Komaram Puli.

For the last two days, the PRP president did not utter a word on the issue, though the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders and OU joint action committee demanded that he should prove the allegations or apologise to them. And when PRP mahila wing leader P Shobha declared that she had enough evidences to prove the allegations, too, Chiranjeevi did not utter a word. He is learnt to have asked Shobha not to overreact on the issue.

The PRP president is so timid that he had to take shelter under heavy police security, after some Telangana students threatened to storm his house seeking an apology from him. “There is no need to make it an issue now, as the film has already been released and bombed at the box office. If we remain silent for some more time, the controversy subsides on its own,” he is learnt to have told the party leaders.
