These days, the film stars seem to be focusing more on making quick money through their brand images, rather than through acting in films.
Probably, under pressure from the producers to reduce their remuneration to bring down the production cost, the actors are concentrating on offsetting their losses through endorsements.
Take for instance, upcoming hero Ram Charan Teja. He has already made big money by endorsing Coca Cola. Now he is all set to promote a mobile network, Docomo in Andhra Pradesh. He has reportedly been offered Rs 2 crore for the campaign.
The new-generation star will replace Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor in Docomo’s regional edition and would be taking light-hearted potshots at rival networks. Although, sources close to the star were tight-lipped about the “deal”, industry sources claim that he has already done a photo shoot at a city hotel for the ad.
According to Telugu film Industry sources added that Ram Charan Tej has revised his pay packet and is now charging Rs 8 crore per film, next only to superstars Mahesh and Jr NTR.
For the record sake, the brand value of present Tollywood superstars is: Mahesh Babu Rs 4 crore; Jr NTR Rs 2 crore; Allu Arjun Rs 2 crore; Nagarjuna Rs 2 crore and Venkatesh Rs 2 crore.
