Nani may not be a bankable star in domestic circuit yet, but he is certainly gaining popularity in the overseas market.
His last three films have turned out to be hits in overseas with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy ending up as one of the biggest ever hits. Nani’s recent release Krishnagadi Veera Prema Gadha has collected over $ 700K despite mixed reviews.
Nani is one of the dependable heroes in overseas market now. So the demand for bagging the overseas rights is understandably high.
With buyers showing immense interest in Nani’s film, producers are getting greedy and trying to recover a large chunk of their investment from overseas rights alone.
As per the buzz, the producer of Nani’s next film has demanded for 4 crore to sell the overseas rights.
Buyers were left shell shocked at those demands as the total budget of an average Nani’s film will be around 10 crore. Even films made on a budget of 40 crore wouldn’t get 4 crore for overseas rights.
Going by Nani’s recent track record, 2 crore is a reasonable rate as there wouldn’t be huge risk involved. At 4 crore, more than half their investment would be at risk as Nani cannot pull off a bad film.
Moreover director Indraganti Mohana Krishna doesn’t have a reliable record to boast of.
