Rumors about mafia influence in Bollywood are not new. Allegedly, these shadowy figures interfere in various aspects, such as deciding which actors to promote, where to invest, and who to suppress.
It is said that breaking into Bollywood’s inner circle is nearly impossible without their approval.
Recently, similar whispers have emerged in Tollywood, fueled by simultaneous Income Tax raids on three major production companies- Mythri Movie Makers, Dil Raju Productions, and Abhishek Agarwal's banner.
These companies are known for their pan-India projects, including Pushpa 2, Kashmir Files, and Karthikeya 2, targeting the Hindi-speaking audience.
Mythri Movie Makers, after the massive success of Pushpa 2, is now working on a film titled Jat with director Gopichand Malineni. The production house has also reportedly given advances to several Bollywood stars.
Dil Raju’s production house has plans to work with Aamir Khan and is working on a new pan India project directed by Vamsi Paidipally.
Abhishek Agarwal Arts, known for its pan-India ventures, is the co-producer of films like Goodachari and Karthikeya 3.
Currently, it is producing Vaccine War, another ambitious pan-India film. All these projects are significant productions aimed at a nationwide audience.
The timing of these raids has raised speculation.
With Bollywood facing a string of flops and South Indian films gaining dominance, some believe the mafia might be involved, possibly as a warning to Tollywood for encroaching on Bollywood’s territory.
However, these could simply be routine IT actions. While nothing concrete links the mafia to the raids, the coincidental nature of events has fueled speculation about hidden motives, keeping the gossip mill alive.
