Ranveer Singh has had a string of films that have underperformed at the box office since the pandemic hit.
First, it was 83 in 2021, followed by Jayeshbhai Jordaar (2022), which collected less than Rs 16 crore. Even Cirkus, in which he starred alongside Pooja Hegde, ended with a lifetime collection of Rs 35.65 crores and failed to impress the audience.
In light of his three recent flops, it has been rumored that Yash Raj Films (YRF) has decided not to collaborate with Ranveer Singh for the time being.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, YRF is heavily invested in the Spy Universe and cannot afford any missteps, especially after the success of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
The source cited by the entertainment portal claimed that a lot is at stake for each film, which is going to be heavily budgeted, and there is no room for error, from pre-production to the last mile release.
Therefore, YRF has decided not to sign any films with Ranveer Singh, given that of the six movies he did with YRF, only one was not a flop.
The source added that although YRF will continue to make non-Spy Universe films, Ranveer Singh is not on their radar at the moment.
It's worth noting that even though these six films made money through the sale of OTT and satellite rights, the box office returns were in the red for Yash Raj Films.
At present, there is no official statement from YRF regarding their decision not to work with Ranveer Singh.
