Both Tollywood and the Tamil industry sat up and took notice when it was announced that Vijay's movie 'Puli' was being made on a budget of Rs 118 crore.
The same happened with Shankar’s ‘I’ and Ravi Kumar’s ‘Lingaa’. As soon as the budget amount is announced, the average cine goer thinks that there is something special in the project and waits for its release. But all such big movies have failed in recent times.
Cine analysts say that the reality is different. There is every possibility of these makers merely hyping their budgets just to attract media and thereby public attention.
The actual budgets for these films could easily be far lesser. But who would bother to inquire into the actual costs? And it makes sense too.
Normally, if it had been announced that ‘Puli’ was another Vijay movie being made, it would interest only the fans. But announce it as a Rs 118 crore project and it’s a whole different ball game.
