Popular entertainment channel, MAA TV has reportedly been put for sale. It is owned by Nimmagadda Prasad, Chiranjeevi, Allu Aravind and Nagarjuna.
It is still not clear though whether it is only Prasad’s stake that has been put up for sale or the entire channel. But the channel is valued at around a...hold your breath...Rs 1800 crore.
A memorandum of understanding has been entered into with Sony for this purpose. This is a common strategy of Prasad who first shot into limelight when he sold his Matrix Laboratories to Mylon for Rs 550 crore.
If Sony were to acquire MAA for the current market price, it would fetch all the promoters, returns more than ten times their investment.
