Everybody knows “Magadheera,” an all-time hit film starring young hero Ram Charan Teja and directed by ace director S S Rajamouli, was a mega budget film in 2009.
According to an estimate, producer Allu Aravind, who made the film under the banner of Geetha Arts, had spent Rs 40 crore on the film, which was a very huge amount three years ago.
In the film industry, generally no questions are asked as to how the producers spend so much money on a film, which is always a risky business. And it was the talk of the town as to how Aravind mobilized such huge financial resources to make that magnum opus of Ram Charan Teja.
According to a highly placed source, Aravind had not taken out a single rupee from his pocket to make the film, but had mobilized finances through collection of party funds for the newly-founded Praja Rajyam Party floated by megastar Chiranjeevi, Cherry’s father.
Those days, Aravind had incurred the wrath of the PRP ticket aspirants that he was selling each ticket at a huge cost. In fact, he had earned the nick name of Collection King those days. Several senior PRP leaders complained to Chiranjeevi over Aravind’s greed for money. He had mobilized huge funds and reportedly diverted a big chunk of it to make Magadheera.
And it fetched him double the investment. Even if he had returned the party fund, he still had made Rs 40 crore from Magadheera!
