Akhil Akkineni is still hunting for a director for his second film. He ran after many star directors and finally decided to go with Oopiri director Vamsi Paidipalli. However that project didn't materialize for reasons best known to Akhil.
Later Akhil agreed to play the lead role in Hanu Raghavapudi's film, but that has landed in Nithin's hands as Akhil didn't agree to do it for 14 Reels Entertainment.
Nagarjuna suggested to do his second film with Soggade Chinni Nayana director Kalyan Krishna. Somehow Akhil is not so interested to team up Kalyan Krishna and the latest we hear is the young Akkineni hero is trying to rope in Maruthi for his second film. Akhil is okay to do it for any producer that Maruthi is committed to.
Maruthi is yet to give a green signal for Akhil's proposal as he is waiting for the verdict of Babu Bangaram. He hopes that he would get a call from Allu Arjun if Babu Bangaram also hits the bull's eye.
If Maruthi decides to work with Akhil then UV Creations will be bankrolling the film, informed sources.
