Director V V Vinayak reportedly paid the amount of nearly Rs 3 Crore to the committee formed by Film Chamber as his film Akhil tanked at the box office.
The director who took remuneration of Rs 9 Cr for the movie gave back Rs 3 Cr to compensate the losses incurred by the distributors of the movie.
Akhil, that had Akhil Akkineni, as hero was released on November 11 amidst huge expectations as the movie was debut film of Nagarjuna's son.
Made on a budget of Rs 40 Cr and sold to the distributors for nearly 47 Cr, the film suffered heavy losses as it could only garner Rs 17 Cr from the theatrical revenue.
The committee which was established last year after a series of big movies tanked at box-office and the distributors lost heavily ordered Vinayak to pay the amount of Rs 3 Cr from his remuneration and he obliged.
