Overseas market has been a mixed bag for business circles this year. While a few films exceeded expectations, some did well and many tanked big time at the box office.
Few films that turned out to be hits in the domestic circuit ended up damp squibs in the overseas market.
Even the films that made into the list of top 10 grossing movies of the year left a huge hole in the buyers pockets.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has set a new benchmark for Indian movies in USA/Canada by grossing over $ 20 Million in all languages.
Chiranjeevi’s re-entry film takes the Megastar right into the $ 2 Million club and Varun Tej too joined his uncle later with Fidaa.
Arjun Reddy turned out to be a mammoth blockbuster in terms of return on investment. The film grossed over $ 1.7 Million and Krish’s brand value helped Balakrishna to register his first Million Dollar film in USA. GPSK grossed over $ 1.6 Million to take the fifth spot among the highest grossing movies of the year.
Nani stamped his authority over US box office twice this year with back to back million dollar movies Ninnu Kori and Nenu Local.
Jai Lava Kusa ended up in losses in spite of grossing $1.5 Million. Thanks to Spyder’s hefty price tag it ended up as a disaster even after grossing $ 1.5 Million in USA.
Same is the case with DJ and Katamarayudu as both the films featured in top 10, but left the buyers in distress because of the high prices they were bought for.
Below is the list of top 10 grossing movies of the year. Let’s see this weekend’s releases MCA and Hello could make it to the final 10 or not.
