Sekhar Kammula's 'Fidaa' starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi is making money at the US box-office. Terrific positive reviews and great word-of-mouth has helped the film to gain hold.
The amount that came from premiere shows was modest but it gained hugely after the film's release. The Saturday’s collections are best example for this. It grossed $ 350k on that day.
Interestingly, it also grossed more than $200k on Sunday, a feat very few Telugu films achieved this year.
Generally, collections for Sunday would be on lower side in the US. But the movie made people book the tickets.
Friday (+Premiere) $363k, Sat $351k Sun $227k (apprx) – Total $ 941k
'Fidaa' is expected to collect more than $ 1.5 million by end of its run. In fact, the distributors who lost heavily on Allu Arjun starrer “DJ”, will be satisfied now.
The losses that were incurred for “DJ” will be covered with the success of “Fidaa”.
Sekhar Kammula, once a darling of overseas audiences, has finally got his mojo back with the film.
Fidaa has also given huge boost to the career of Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi, who are tinsel town's latest hot couple.
