At USA box-office, “Tholi Prema” showed its supremacy among Indian releases during the weekend.
Varun Tej starrer “Tholi Prema”, Sai Dharam Tej’s “Intelligent”, Mohan Babu’s “Gayatri”, and Akshay Kumar’s “Padman” were the notable releases.
Varun Tej’s “Tholi Prema” and Akshay’s “Padman” both had good run during the weekend as both are now racing towards one million dollars.
Although “Tholi Prema” released on Saturday in India, it premiered on Thursday in USA. The film in its three-day weekend (with premieres) has collected in the range of $650 – 700k (final count is yet to be made).
Premiere- $151,796 Fri - $139,296 Sat - $226,819 Sun -150k (apprx) Total Weekend Gross: $670k
Akshay Kumar’s “Padman” was a slow starter but it picked up later. The film grossed 800k dollars in its opening weekend.
Fri - $202,455 Sat - $306,094 Sun - $300k (apprx) Total Weekend Gross: $808k
On the other hand, Sai Dharam Tej’s “Intelligent” which skipped Thursday premieres opened to poor numbers on Friday. It didn’t pick up much later. The film grossed mere $44k (apprx) in its opening weekend.
Mohan Babu’s “Gayatri” was also a disaster. It grossed just $25k dollars.
