By end of its 18th day run, 'Janatha Garage' broke records of Pawan Kalyan's 'Attharintiki Daaredi' by good margin and thereby changed the top movies list.
“Janatha Garage” is still running successfully, so it may add further good amount to its tally. So far the top 5 movies were dominating with mega heroes but now everything has changed.
Allu Arjun doesn’t have place in this list. Here are the current top five movies…
1. Baahubali – 180 Cr
Rajamouli’s epic “Baahubali The Beginning” released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages and set all-time new records in India.
The movie grossed Rs 610 Cr worldwide in all its languages. The Telugu version is said to have collected Rs 180 Cr share. This is all-time number one movie in Tollywood’s history.
Even in overseas market, “Baahubali” stands as number one Tollywood movie with cumulative gross of 6.9 million dollars.
2. Srimanthudu – 85 Cr
Mahesh Babu – Koratala Siva's first movie “Srimanthudu” surprised everyone by raking in so much money despite releasing just a month after the mammoth Baahubali’s release.
The film that released in August 2015 went to collect Rs 85.5 Cr worldwide. It still stands as number 2 movie in Tollywood.
In overseas market too, “Srimanthudu” holds the all-time second biggest hit’s position with its total gross of 2.9 million dollars.
3. Janatha Garage – 76 Cr and running
NTR’s “Janatha Garage” is still adding moolah as the movie is first option to the audiences this season. Since there are no big movies around and the new release has failed to create interest, the film has collected Rs 76.5 Cr share so far.
It remains to be seen how much more it would add to its total tally by end of its complete run. The movie performed on strong note in Telugu states as 80 percent share came from here. In overseas market, it was just okay. The movie’s USA gross is 1.77 million dollars.
4. Attharintiki Daaredi -74.75 Cr
Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s “Attharinitki Daaredi” was enjoying the status of the number one movie till “Baahubali” broke the records. Directed by Trivikram, the success of “Attharintiki Daaredi” was special because the film released when the movie’s pirated CDs came out into the market before the release.
Despite pirated versions, it went to set all-time records. Three years down the line, the film now stands at fourth position. In overseas market, the movie stands as fifth all-time biggest hit with the gross of 1.89 million dollars.
5. Magadheera – 72.5 Cr
When it was released in 2009, “Magadheera” wowed everyone and surprised the trade pundits that a Telugu movie could collect such massive amount of collections. This was the first film to have crossed Rs 65 Cr gross.
While there is controversy about its total collections, the general opinion among the trade circles is that it has collected about 72 Cr including the dubbed versions.
