Allu Arjun's Duvvada Jagannadham opened on a decent note at the US box office. The film has collected $ 538,011 on its day 1 including Thursday premieres.
DJ has not only collected half million in US on its first day but also has beaten Salman Khan’s Tubelight by a huge margin.
Salman's Tube Light only managed $ 280,445 from 344 locations whereas DJ collected $538K from 160 locations.
This is a huge feat by Allu Arjun considering Salman Khan’s recent track record. Moreover Tubelight is directed by Kabir Khan who delivered back to back blockbusters Ek Tha Tiger and Bajarangi Bhaijaan with Salman.

Although DJ opening day collections are decent, the film has a mountain to climb as it was bought for a high price by the US distributor.
Going by the current trend it will end up somewhere around $ 1.2 Million as per trade estimates, which won’t be enough for buyers to recover the high costs.
