Venkatesh’s sports drama Guru has been doing exceptional business in the domestic circuit, but its performance overseas has been below par so far.
A movie like Guru is expected to do well in the overseas market as such niche films appeal to the audiences overseas.
Surprisingly, Guru opened on a poor note and its business continued to be on the lower side through the weekend.
The film has collected only $139K in its first weekend, which is very poor considering its genre and the positive word of mouth. Remaking a popular Bollywood film might be the reason for low turn outs opine trade analysts.
Guru overseas rights were bought for Rs. 1.5 crore which means the film should collect nearly half million dollars to be a profitable venture for its buyers.
Guru still has another weekend to get closer to the breakeven mark as there aren’t any notable new releases on this Friday except Cheliya.
