Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat has opened to fantastic numbers in international markets such as Australia, New Zealand and UK. Especially in Australia the openind day numbers are all time high for a Bollywood film.
The film has beaten the likes of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi version) and Dangal. While Padmaavat opened to $367k, Baahubali 2 was $212k and Dangal $247k.
The film has also made $64k in New Zealand and £97 from the preview screenings in UK.
Senior trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "#Padmaavat takes a FANTABULOUS START in key international markets on Thu... AUSTRALIA: A$ 367,984 [₹ 1.88 cr] NEW ZEALAND: NZ$ 64,265 [₹ 29.99 lakhs] UK [preview screenings]: £ 97,604 [₹ 88.08 lakhs] @Rentrak"
In India, the film made a strong Rs 5 crore in its paid preview shows, despite limited release. Taran Adarsh had tweeted yesterday, "Despite challenges and extremely limited preview shows [which commenced in evening], #Padmaavat collects ₹ 5 cr in previews screenings on Wed."
