The trend is emerging that all films are not suitable for consumption in the theaters. Films that have flopped in theaters may click on the OTT apps.
Conversely, films that became super hits in the theaters may not necessarily work big time on digital platforms.
“Chaavu Kaburu Challaga” has emerged as a hit on the Aha platform.
The film featuring Kartikeya as a mortuary van driver and Lavanya Tripathi as a young widow was a disaster in the theaters.
However, when it premiered on Aha, the viewers logged in to watch it eagerly. According to Aha’s statement, the film has garnered 100 million viewing minutes in 72 hours.
In one word, it is a super hit on OTT.
The same is the case with Nagarjuna’s action drama “Wild Dog”. Directed by Ahisor Solomon, the actioner could not bring the audiences to the theaters mainly due to the second wave of corona cases.
It premiered recently on Netflix, and lo, it became a huge hit. The film continued trending on Netflix’s India list for days. The Tamil version also trended.
“Wild Dog” is meant for OTT space.
On the other hand, “Uppena” which had nearly grossed more than Rs 40 crore share in the theaters has not made any waves in the OTT space. The film received a negative reaction from the OTT audiences.
“Jathi Ratnalu” which was a roaring hit in the theaters has received trolling when it premiered on Amazon Prime. The film also didn’t trend much.
In general, people who don’t watch the movies in theaters prefer watching them on OTT platforms. So, a film that didn’t work in the theaters gets more viewership on digital space.
