Pelli Choopulu ended up as one of the biggest hits of the year in terms of return on investment. The film was made on a shoestring budget of 80 Lakhs.
Suresh Babu acquired total distribution rights of the movie for 1.5 Crore. As per agreement, he would be giving sixty percent of the profits to the original producers.
Pelli Choopulu surprised one and all by collecting a distributor share of over 10 Crore in its full run. Satellite rights fetched another 2.5 crore. There is huge demand for the remake rights that should earn another 2 to 3 crores. Suresh Babu and other two producers are likely to pocket 5 crore each on the movie.
Overseas buyer and local exhibitors who have bought it for a ridiculously low price made huge profits. This is one of the very few films that had brought high profits for all the investors.
Director Tharun Bhascker is doing his next film for the same producers as per prior agreement. This film will surely sell like a hot cake as the buyers will bet big on the film made by Pelli Choopulu team.
