'Dammu' Music Review: Full Dose Mass Punch

'Dammu' Music Review: Full Dose Mass Punch

A promising summer treat is on the cards because Boyapati is back after ‘Simha’ and he has teamed up with Jr NTR for a special commercial potboiler. The songs are out and they have been composed by Keeravani. Let us have a look.

O Lilly
Artist: Baba Sehgal
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is a typical mass number and it starts off on a melodious note but picks up the momentum as it progresses. The pace of the song is consistent and the mass beat is prompt. The singer has rendered it with variation and it has a peppy effect because of his modulation. The lyrics are perfect for the masses and few lines will give additional kick.

Roolar (Movie Version)
Artists: Prudhvi Chandra, Geetha Madhuri, Revanth, Sahiti
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is a unique song which will create a special impact. The track takes off on a mild note and there is hardly any instrument used for the first minute. The song seems to have taken inspiration from the title song of ‘Rakta Charitra’ given the increasing intensity as it progresses. The highlight of the song is the vocals as they have been rendered with high pitch and energy. The lyrics are wonderfully written with punch packed adjectives suiting the image of the protagonist.

Raja Vasi Reddy
Artists: MM. Keeravani, Krishna Chaithanya
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is more like the people oriented number and it takes off in a traditional mode but eventually converts into a mass song. The adrenalin is high in the notations and the variation in the tune is quite effective. The singers have given a good feel to the number and there is intensity in that. The lyrics are well written and all possible adjectives for NTR have been used aptly.

Vaastu Bagunde
Artists: Rahul Sipligunj, Sravana Bhargavi, Shivani
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is a melody song but with mass flavour. The track takes off on a moderate note and it is mixed with some traditional and western beat. The flavour of the song reminds us of ‘Chandrakala’ from ‘Adhurs’ and the singers have taken it to a new level with a high pitch rendering. The pace of the song is smooth and is like a Tamil song in few places. The lyrics are filled with good naughty words which will strike a chord with the masses.

Dhammu
Artists: Rahul Sipilgunj, Shivani, Sravana Bhargavi
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is the title song of the movie and has a right kind of takeoff with good melodious beats. The usage of mass beats and the foot tapping background score are in sync with each other and they create a peppy effect. The singers have rendered it with very nice energy and their timing has worked very well for the track. The lyrics are highlight and though they have been written with raunchy masala, they will be lapped up very well.

Roolar (Cd Version)
Artists: MM. Keeravani, Geetha Madhuri
Lyricist: Chandrabose

This is very much like the movie version but the difference being the number of singers is less. The tune and composition is the same. The pace of the track and the rendering from the singers is very similar. However, the female vocals are high in melody quotient and some of the interludes have been amended to get a different feel. The lyrics are written with the right kind of depth and passion.

Verdict
It is never an easy task to compose songs for a big range mass hero and at a time when he requires a sure shot hit. But still Keeravani has come up with tunes which are perfectly suited for NTR fans and those who love commercial music.

Most of the numbers are beat based and though there is no soft melody in the album, a good quotient of melody has been mixed with these fast paced songs. The choice of instruments and the choice of singers is worthy and they have given a good kick to the tracks.

Numbers like ‘Dhammu’, ‘Roolar’ are sure to score as chartbusters. The music is good, the singers are perfect and the lyrics are appropriate. There is no softness in the lines but given the genre of the songs, the mass punch and adrenaline required is impressive. Overall, this is a CD which is meant for Nandamuri fans and those who like mass oriented songs.
