USA Driving: Don't Be That Guy, Stay Safe

It is disheartening to see young lives losing on roads in the USA. A month or so ago we heard a few people of Telugu origin met with accident and then the recent news about a similar incident has cast a shadow of unhappiness.

In both instances young people lost their precious lives. We all came to this country with many hopes and dreams! To secure our future and to make our parents proud, yet such incidents only leave deep wounds to the near and dear ones! So a word or two of caution will go a long way.

Here are some things to keep in mind when traveling on road:

Start early: It is always a good idea to leave a little early than on time. Consider road conditions such as constructions, accidents, road closures etc.

Weather conditions: Not every day is the same, especially in places like Dallas or Texas for that matter. Don’t be surprised to see all seasons in a single day and consider to act accordingly while on the road.

Speed limit: States like Texas are big, many highways, roads are newly constructed. Cities like Dallas are expanding big time and often have speed limits higher than other cities and often tempting to hit the gas. However maintaining the speed limit is always a good idea.

Road rage: We do see there are a few who can be impulsive on road. Always give way to those who are eager to go and give them the way. At the end of the day, nothing is more precious than your own life.

Always consider that others who are driving are wrong and be careful while driving. Try avoiding driving late nights. Needless to say there is a whole element of driving sober. All the states have zero tolerance as such it is never a good idea to drive when drunk, if it is inevitable then plan to catch a ride share.

Hope the community thinks of these things and that there is a change in perception when hitting the road. Remember there is someone at home who is thinking of you! Life when lost can’t be recovered!

Aditya, Dallas
