A tragic incident occurred as 24-year-old Pucha Varun Raj, who had been fighting for his life after being stabbed at a public gym a few days ago, passed away on Wednesday.
Varun Raj, a Master’s in Computer Science student, had traveled to the US in August 2022. He hailed from Mamilligudem in Khammam.
Jordan Andrade was arrested after he attacked Varun, driving a knife into his head at the massage room of Planet Fitness Club in Valparaiso city, Indiana, on Sunday morning, as reported by The Times of Northwest Indiana.
On Thursday, the US State Department expressed deep concern about the incident, stating, “We are deeply disturbed by reports of a brutal attack against Indian graduate student Varun Raj Pucha. We wish him a full recovery from his injuries. We defer to local law enforcement for any questions about this ongoing case,” as conveyed by a State Department spokesperson to ANI.
