US Boy Survives 2 Days Alone By Eating Snow

An eight-year-old boy who had gone camping with his family in Michigan's Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park survived for two days after he went missing. Nante Niemi managed to stay alive by hiding under a log for shelter and eating snow.

According to a press release by the Michigan State Police, the boy had gone missing while collecting firewood near the family's campsite.

Fortunately, he was found in good health two miles away from his campsite at 1.30 pm on Monday and was reunited with his family.

Lieutenant Wickstrom, who was part of the rescue team, stated that the boy had covered himself with branches and leaves for warmth and had also used the log he was under as a blanket.

The Michigan State Police tweeted that Nante survived by drinking clean snow for hydration and had walked a trail before deciding to stop and wait when he ran out of trail. The police team had offered to carry him out, but he wanted to walk.

The park's terrain is described as remote, hilly, and challenging to navigate, with standing water due to the time of the year. The Michigan State Police focused on a 40 square mile area and eventually found the boy.
