Three Industries Lose Heavily Next Month

Summer is a very big season for several businesses. Due to the summer holidays Tourism, Hospitality and Entertainment sectors usually witness a tremendous business.

We can say that summer is a golden period for these three businesses. But the Covid-19 outbreak and the lockdown announced by the government has become a huge blow to them.

Tourism: Summer is the perfect season for family vacations. People visiting tourist attractions in India or going abroad is a common thing.

The people those don't plan such vacations will least go to their native places for sure. Now, Traveling took a severe beating with the lockdown restrictions. All sorts of transportation came to a screeching halt. Lockdown will be continued till April end.

Even if it is allowed in May, there will be strict social distancing measures in place, so people may not be in a mood to go for vacations.

Hospitality: Hospitality sector is dependent mainly on tourism and business travel. As both of them are badly hit,  hotels will certainly register low occupancy.

When all the businesses run well, and people spend money then only hospitality industry flourishes. Now, the majority of the businesses are already in losses. There is no travel.

People are habituated to sitting at their homes.  So, it is going to be really tough time ahead for hospitality industry.

Entertainment: Movie theaters are closed for the last few weeks. The closure will be continued even after the lockdown is lifted to avoid the crowd gathering.

Even if the theaters are reopened, they should follow social distancing measures that are economically not viable.

It takes time to the people to get adjusted to the new conditions so they may avoid places like theatres. The situation will be more or less similar to the resorts and amusement parks.

We can say that Covid-19 has devastated these sectors. We have to wait and see how they recover from this heavy impact.
