Techie kills herself after quarrel with mother

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old software employee, K Sandhya, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her flat in Kukatpally on Thursday morning.

Sandhya, an MCA graduate, was an employee of Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt Ltd at Gachibowli.

A few years ago, Sadhya lost her father Rama Rao. She along with her mother Sarojini was staying at HMT Hills in Kukatpally.

According to police, on Thursday morning at 5.30 am, Sarojini, who suffers from paralysis, chided Sandhya for not taking care of her. “When Sarojini went to the toilet, Sandhya hanged herself from the ceiling fan,” Kukatpally inspector of police Surender Reddy said. Alerted by the incessant crying of Sarojini, neighbours rushed to their house and informed police about the death. Police reached the spot within half hour and conducted preliminary inquiry.

Police searched all rooms and cupboards, Sandhya’s handbag and bed, but could not find any suicide note.

As Sandhya did not leave any note, police questioned Sarojini about the reasons for her daughter’s suicide. “Sarojini claimed they did not have any financial problems. She never anticipated her daughter would resort to such extreme measure after she scolded her,” Surender Reddy said. Police shifted the body for postmortem. A case under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was registered.
