Hyderabad: Rubbishing all the reports of his marriage getting postponed, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik said on Sunday that there are no issues between him and his bride-to-be Sania Mirza and that they will get married as per schedule, that is, on April 15.
Laying to rest all speculation regarding which country Sania will represent after the wedding, Malik clarified that the tennis player would continue to play for India till the time she wants.
“She (Sania) will play tennis till the time she wants to and my family will continue to support her. She will continue to play for India,” Malik Said.
Addressing journalists outside Sania Mirza’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Shoaib said that the wedding would take place in Hyderabad.
He added that all the controversy regarding his alleged ‘first wife’ Ayesha Siddiqui has not hampered that festive mood within his and Sania’s family and that everyone is excited and ‘happy’ for the wedding.
Malik, however, denied answering any questions regarding the tussle with the Siddiquis, saying, “It is a legal thing and my lawyer will answer.” He, however, issued a pres release explaining his side of the story.
Unfazed by the threats by Ayesha Siddiqui to launch legal proceedings against him for cheating, Shoaib landed in Hyderabad Friday night and was spotted at Sania’s house Saturday.
Ayesha’s family alleges that Shoaib married her over phone but dumped her later due to her weight problems. Shoaib, however, insists that it was the Siddiquis who cheated him.
The 28-year-old has said he was sent photographs of a girl who is not Ayesha and that he was only engaged to that girl but backed out after finding out that he had been duped.
