The ex-Satyam Computers CEO, Mr Ramalinga Raju, has not had any visits from his wife, Mrs Nandini Raju, since he was put behind bars.
Though his son, Mr Teja Raju, has been a regular visitor to the Chanchalguda prison, Mr Ramalinga Raju has reportedly told his wife strictly not to visit him in jail. While one section of prison officials said that she did visit his cell once, others confirmed that she never paid a visit. However, Mrs Lalitha, wife of the former Satyam chief financial officer, Mr Vadlamani Srinivas, regularly visits her husband.
Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam MLA, Mr P. Krishna Babu, who was initially denied a chance to meet Mr Ramalinga Raju, finally managed to convince the jail officials and had a meeting with the disgraced Satyam boss.
Other politicians who met the Raju brothers include the Congress MLA, Mr K. Bapiraju, and the Attili MLA, Mr Ch. Ranga Raju.
Mr S. Bharat Kumar, the lawyer of Mr Ramalinga Raju, has made the maximum number of visits to the jail, the last one on Wednesday. Jail authorities said Mr Ramalinga Raju had been discussing the finer points of the case with Mr Bharat Kumar.
Mr Varma, top executive of Satyam Computers, visits the Rajus in the jail on a regular basis. As per rules, visitors can see a prisoner two days in a week, but the jail superintendent can allow more visits. It is learnt that Mr Ramalinga Raju’s visitors have been seeing him thrice a week.
Meanwhile, Mr Ramalinga Raju has been reading former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s Discovery of India, in prison besides reciting verses from the Bhagavad Gita.
Sources said he has also requested for books on philosophy and Buddha from the prison library has also been reading two English dailies including Deccan Chronicle and two Telugu dailies.
