This is the season of Mid Term elections in the USA. Surprisingly all the political parties are competing with each other in spending money.
Well, that is not to distribute to the voters like in India, but to spend on SMS Campaigns, Billboards, Street Side signboards, TV Ads, Paid Interviews, Articles in dailies, printed handouts to drop on post boxes, social media promotions and events & pressmeets.
A whopping Rs 13,66,14,60,05,000 (16.7 Billion Dollar).
Out of this huge chunk Republican spending amounted to $4.6 billion, compared to Democrats’ $3.9 billion. The rest is distributed among the other parties and independents.
The amount is spent on media more than anything else. This is alarmingly big when compared to the previous years. Rise in inflation in the USA is also a reason for this exorbitant expenditure, say sources.
