New Business In USA: 'Chicken Rentals' With High Egg Prices

With egg prices increasing in the US, more people are turning to an unusual solution—renting chickens.

Christine and Brian Templeton from Goffstown, New Hampshire, run a business called Rent The Chicken to help people get fresh eggs at home.

For about $600, customers can rent two hens, along with feed and support, for six months. These hens can lay around a dozen eggs per week, making it a cost-effective option during egg shortages.

Many renters become attached to their chickens and decide to keep them. As egg prices continue to rise, this unique service is becoming more popular. Renting chickens is not only a fun experience but also a sustainable way to have fresh eggs.

The Templetons' business is growing, and more people are considering backyard chickens as a solution to expensive store-bought eggs. With rising costs and supply issues, renting chickens might become a common trend in the US.

Moreover, out of the 300 eggs they get over six months, some can be hatched, increasing the number of chickens. This is an added advantage for customers. They can choose to keep the new chickens for more eggs, consume them, or even rent them out to others.

This makes chicken rentals not only a way to get fresh eggs but also a way to grow their own small chicken farm over time.
