
The first NATA Philadelphia area awareness and membership drive meeting was held on Saturday 3/26/2011 at Bawarchi Restaurant located in Wayne, PA.
It was attended by a large crowd of Telugu people who live in Delaware Valley and surrounding areas, said Dr. Raghava Reddy Ghosala, a prominent Telugu leader.
The meeting was attended by over 200 people from the Tristate area who made a firm commitment by joining the NATA family for doing charity activities.
The meeting started with a welcome note by Srinivasa Reddy Emani, (Chair, Membership Committee), chaired by Dr. Raghava Reddy Ghosala (Board of Director), and attendees who included Rajeshwar Reddy Gangasani (Executive Vice President), Harinadha Reddy Velkur (Board of Director), Srinivas Ganagoni (Chair, Community Services), Rammohan Reddy Kallam (Regional Coordinator, Philadelphia North), Madhusudan Reddy Gonipati (Regional Coordinator, Philadelphia South), Siddhartha Reddy (Regional Coordinator, Delaware), Jyothi Reddy (Regional Coordinator, Reading, PA), Kishore Reddy (Regional Cooordinator, Scranton, PA), Sridhar Gudala (Community leader), Venka Reddy, Dr. Geethanjali Dornadula, Dr. Sujana Reddy Yerram, Chandra Vedanaparti, Sridhar Reddy Thikkavarapu, Ajay Reddy Yaratha, Prasad Reddy Sanikommu. In addition, several prominent Telugu leaders from this region, including Dr. Srinivasa Reddy Aravabhumi, Rajendra Reddy, Ravi Hajeebu, Sai Baba Reddy, Sateesh Rachamadugu of Swarna Jewelers, Madhava Reddy, and Ravi Mayreddy have participated in the meeting.
The highlight of the membership drive was the strong group of 30 young and energetic people from New Jersey led by Nageshwar Reddy Mukkamalla (Regional Coordinator, South Jersey), Srikanth Reddy Lakkasagaram, and Satish Reddy Indupuru who added extra energy and brought renewed enthusiasm to the event.
Dr. Raghava Reddy updated the group about NATA inauguration and its mission which was agreed upon at the Las Vegas meeting on 1/23/2011. He assured that NATA will take care of all the social interests for Telugu people in North America. He explained the key social and service oriented goals of NATA which include preservation, promotion, and advancement of Telugu culture with utmost transparency and accountability. Rajeshwar Reddy Gangasani and Srinivas Ganagoni explained the activities that were carried by NATA during the past few months.
They gave details regarding the recent tragic deaths of two Telugu people and how NATA helped. In addition, they highlighted how NATA is helping by getting the attention of SM Krishna, Indian Foreign Affairs Minister, and Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao, for the Tri-valley students’ problems.
With the combined effort of the Delaware Valley and surrounding areas NATA team, we were able to add 150 new members, which included 5 Gold Category members to the NATA family.
The participants and their families enjoyed a festive environment with delicious food and vowed to play an active role in building a great NATA family. Srinivasa Reddy Emani thanked everyone for making the meeting a grand success.
