Kalabharathi, NJ Celebrates its 12th Continuous Event!

Ganesha Chaturthi as a 10-Day Utsav 2014

New Jersey/New York metro area’s community-based group Kalabharathi announced that it will celebrate the Ganesha Chaturthi festival as a 10-Day Utsav, beginning Friday August 29th in the Mall at Oak Tree, 1710 Oak Tree Road in Edison.

“We have held the Ganesha Chaturthi as a community event for the last 11 years and will continue to celebrate the festival this year with many more activities”, announced team Kalabharathi for Utsav 2014. Over the years, Kalabharathi found increasing participation by both Indian and local residents as a motivation for its continued celebration of the Ganesha Chaturthi as a community festival.

Kalabharathi hosted preparatory meetings engaging several prominent community leaders to plan and organize the 10-day event. Various coordination committees, involving participation from wider groups and multiple organizations, were setup to facilitate this year’s celebrations – Utsav 2014.

10-day Celebrations: Festivities will start with Prathishta Pooja on Friday August 29th at 4:00PM; continue with daily pooja from August 30th through September 6th starting at 7:00 PM; and end on 9th day, Sunday September 7th with Nimajjan ceremony starting at 4:00 PM. During the 10-day Utsav, community activities include kirthans, bhajans and cultural events in which attendees, bhajan groups, artists and students of many local dance and music schools, will participate.

For this year “we are anticipating an even larger participation and our team extends an invitation to all members of the community to join as volunteers, or to attend daily festivities with family and friends,” announced the organizers.

Nimajjan: Encouraged by huge turnouts in the past for Nimajjan experience, which were attended by nearly thousand members, Utsav 2014 will hold a longer event for Nimajjan on Sunday September 7th starting early at 4:00 PM in Johnson  Park in Piscataway,NJ.
