The way two industry majors from Telangana – Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited and My Home Group – donated huge amounts for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya has kicked up interesting discussions in a section of social media.
While MEIL managing director Krishna Reddy donated a whopping Rs 6 crore, My Home Group chairman Jupalli Rameshwar Rao presented a cheque for Rs 5 crore to Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh general secretary Suresh Bhayya ji towards their contribution to the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
Both the industrialists handed over the cheques to Suresh Bhayya ji through Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar swamy at the latter’s ashram in Muchintal on Friday. Another real estate group Aparna Constructions also donated Rs 2 crore to the Ram Mandir on the same occasion.
It is not uncommon for Ramesh Rao to donate huge amounts for spiritual activities. In fact, he donated big monies to several temples, besides constructing a temple in every housing project of My Home Group. Similarly, MEIL, too, occasionally donates money for various social service activities.
Yet, the donations by these two prominent Telangana industrialists led to the talk in some social media groups that they were trying to appease the BJP government at the Centre in the wake of reports that the Centre was digging into the irregularities in the projects they had taken up.
There were reports in the recent past that Rameshwar Rao was getting closer to the BJP and speculations in the media said he might even be offered the Rajya Sabha seat.
At the same time, there have been reports about the Income Tax authorities conducting raids on some contractors working for My Home Group and unearthing some financial irregularities.
Similarly, it is also learnt the Centre had received complaints about huge financial irregularities in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project constructed by MEIL and efforts were on hush up the case.
Against this backdrop, the donation of such huge amounts by MEIL and My Home group has certainly generated a lot of curiosity and speculation!
