Drawing inspiration from YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who has been distributing groceries and money to the poor people hit by lockdown on account of Coronavirus, representative of AP government in North America Ratnakar Pandugayala also took up similar activity in the US.
On Friday, Ratnakar distributed groceries and financial aid to Telugu students stranded in more than 25 states and 45 cities in the US and Canada due to lockdown.
Each student was supplied with groceries required for a month, apart from a cash assistance of 100 US dollars deposited in their accounts. Ratnakar assured that they would be taken care of in case they need any further assistance.
Ratnakar said he was inspired by Jagan Mohan Reddy’s gesture of supplying essential commodities and cash to the people at their doorsteps through village volunteers’ system.
“Here, too, I have noticed that Telugu students are facing problems; so, we wanted to help them in some way so that they can concentrate on their studies,” he said.
He said the YSRC volunteers in the US had assured the students of every possible help and asked them not to get anxious but stay at home and stay safe.
The financial aid of $100 would help them take care of their daily needs as they can't go out for extra job to earn their pocket money to meet their daily needs, Ratnakar said.
