After successfully organizing 16 major conferences in various cities, TANA is getting ready to organize the 17th conference in Orlando, Florida. This conference will be held during the month of July, 2009. As per the Bylaws, TANA executive committee will appoint a Coordinator to organize this conference. On November 5th, TANA executive committee met over a teleconference to vote and appoint the coordinator. Out of the 17 executive committee members, 14 members attended the meeting. Out of the 14 members, 11 members voted in favor of Dr. Gummadi Siva Sagar and 3 abstained from voting. TANA Executive Committee in a press release clarified that Dr. Gummadi Siva Sagar’s appointment is final and all other appointments made without the approval of the TANA Executive Committee will be null and void.
Dr. Gummadi, a Guntur Medical College Alumni Student and long time resident of Florida, has recently organized a GMC Alumni Student Conference in Orlando. TANA EC has expressed deep satisfaction towards this appointment and strongly felt that his past experience in organizing the conference, his leadership and commitment would be very helpful in organizing the upcoming 17th TANA Conference.
About Siva Sagar Gummadi , M.D., F.A.C.C
Dr. Sagar Gummadi is a Cardiologist by professions living in Ocala, Florida which is very close to the proposed convention center in Orlando. He has been involved with the Guntur Medical College Alumni Association of North America (GMCANA) for the past several years in promoting the activities of the association and raising funds for the organization to complete developmental projects taken up by the organization in improving the facilities at Guntur Medical College. He is currently involved in a future fund raising drive for a turnkey project to build a hospital and donate to the Government of AP for operational purpose. An agreement to this affect was signed at the recent TANA conference in Washington DC with the health minister of AP.
GMCANA appointed him as the Convener for the Bi-anneal GMCANA convention that was held in Orlando, Florida in September 2006. This two day convention was a great success. With a highly motivated team of doctors and volunteers, the event included Lunches, breakfast, dinners, Exhibits, CME, and various meetings. He worked with Disney to host a dinner in Disneyland under the fireworks. The event culminated with a Banquet dinner with cultural program as the finale. He will be closely working with AAPI in their next convention in Orlando.
He is currently busy playing advisory role on other medical college alumni associations helping organize their college reunions in Orlando.
His prior experience in dealing with the convention centers in Orlando area and the knowledge, means and capabilities in organizing conferences would surely be a tremendous help for the upcoming TANA conference.
