Many employees from India prefer that their implementation partner employer sponsor their H-1B visa. It seems like a safe and secure path. Unfortunately, most Indian implementation partners adhere to a strict queue system when it comes to sponsoring employees for the H-1B lottery. Generally, seniority within the job position carries significant weight in this process.
However, it is also worth noting that favoritism and nepotism can also influence the selection of candidates for H-1B sponsorship within Indian implementation partners. Consequently, rather than waiting for their turn in the queue, individuals may find it more advantageous to choose a smaller IT consulting firm that can immediately sponsor their H-1B visa.
Furthermore, it is common for Indian implementation partners to delay sponsoring the green card until an employee has completed five years in H-1B status. As a result, many individuals find themselves unable to complete the green card process within the allocated time, forcing them to leave the USA for at least one year after completing the maximum six years on the H-1B visa.
While Indian implementation partners may create the impression that an employee's career and H-1B visa are secure with them, this often proves to be far from the truth. In the event of layoffs, these partners swiftly repatriate H-1B employees back to India. On the other hand, a smaller IT consulting company can promptly find alternative end clients for their H-1B employees, providing greater job security and stability.
H-1B employees' earning potential has skyrocketed with remote work post- covid. H-1B employees can find work remotely from any location in the USA, do two or more H-1B projects, and earn extra income.
H-1B employees doing multiple projects can earn up to a quarter million dollars annually. This income potential is four to five times the income of an IT worker in Canada, the UK, and Australia, where return-to-office mandates are more common. The H-1B employee of an implementation partner cannot avail any of these benefits of H-1B visa and usually must work from office due to implementation partner’s strict return to office mandates.
