
Bharatiya Janata Party, which is making a desperate attempt to gain footing in Andhra Pradesh, is trying to take maximum advantage of the ongoing agitation by farmers of Amaravati capital region against proposed shifting of administrative capital to Visakhapatnam.

The YSR Congress party government might have postponed its decision to shift the executive capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam for the time being, but the authorities have already been making arrangements for running the administration from the port city.

The sudden decision of the Andhra Pradesh state cabinet led by YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to defer the announcement on shifting of administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam has surprised many.

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Friday decided to constitute a high-power committee to take a final decision on three capitals proposal even as huge protests rocked Amaravati.

The rumour mills were active for the past three days with an eye on the cabinet meeting of the Jaganmohan Reddy government slated for today.

When the previous Telugu Desam Party government led by N Chandrababu Naidu had chosen Amaravati as the capital city area, it caused a lot of inconvenience for the state government employees who have their families in Hyderabad.

The Visakhapatnam, which is tipped for the executive capital of the state, is in celebration mood.

At a time when the YSR Congress party is planning to host a massive civic reception to YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam on December 28, the Telugu Desam Party is planning to kick up huge protests in Amaravati region.

Even as the Andhra Pradesh cabinet led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to meet on Friday to formally take a decision declaring Visakhapatnam as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy already announced the cabinet decision.

Now, all eyes are on Visakhapatnam, which is all set to become the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The ruling YSR Congress MLAs are getting ready to come out with a fitting counter to what they call TDP-sponsored protest in the capital villages these days.

Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might have regained some lost ground in Krishna and Guntur districts with his strong resistance to the shifting of executive capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
