Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday came out with yet another sensational allegation against former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, stating that he had received Rs 500 crore from mining tycoon and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy towards election expenditure in 2009 assembly and parliament elections.
TDP legislator Payyavula Kesav, quoting a Kannada daily report, told the media that Gali had told the CBI officials during interrogation that YSR had also asked him to take care of the election expenses of the Congress candidates in Anantapur district.
“All these days, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his family members were saying that they had no connection whatsoever with Gali Janardhan Reddy. But the media report clearly shows that they had got money from Gali as gift. And the CBI is going to submit Gali’s deposition report in the court shortly,” he said.
Perhaps, Kesav must have been misled by his sources which provided him with the media report. The news was carried in Vijaya Karnataka daily on March 7, 2012 (and not 2013). Thus, it was one year old report and the CBI could not prove his deposition in the last one year. And Kesav has chosen it to sling mud at YSR and his family!
