YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi on Tuesday defended her statement that her party would support the UPA in the post-poll scenario only in the interest of the state.
Coming down on the “yellow media” for distorting her statement, Vijayamma said she had never said YSR Congress party would support only UPA.
“What I said was that the YSR Congress would decide its stand after the next elections. It would support either the UPA or the Third Front government in the post-poll scenario in the best interest of the state, but not the coalition of communal parties. Who knows which party or coalition would come to power in the Centre after 2014?” she asked.
Vijayammma said in the state, the YSR Congress party was sure to get 30 to 35 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the next general elections, whenever they were held.
“Our party president Jaganmohan Reddy has always been with the people whether he is in jail or out of jail. Where is the need for him to join hands with any other party?” she wondered.
She blamed it on Economic Times daily for giving a misleading headline and story on the front page, but carrying her actual version in the inside pages.
