Tollywood Never Wants ET Waiver?

Though the cine folks don’t talk about it, the average viewer of the cinema tends to shell out a good deal of money to buy tickets. In this aspect, the subject of Entertainment Tax waiver has been making rounds. As such, the Kollywood folks are utilizing it by keeping titles in Tamil.

That way, they are going for waiver but our folks are not doing anything about it. Why they are not doing? There is a logic. Firstly there is no complaint from people that ticket prices are not soaring. They are coming and buying. For the big hero flicks, a Rs 50 ticket is sold for Rs 500. Anyhow black ticket selling is on but still they are bought.

If ET waiver comes forcibly they have to reduce ticket prices and it will come to almost half. The audience will be thrilled with this but the overall collections will come down. So, as long as public doesn’t make noise the Tollywood folks will not do anything. But if the ET waiver comes then big hero films will get affected in overall collections. Obviously, there is a difference when a ticket is sold for Rs 50 and sold for Rs 30. Sources say ET is between 7%-14% so pricing has to go down by Rs 40- Rs 50. Let’s see what happens.
