TSR: People Still Call Me Vizag MP

Former union minister and Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy appears to be hell bent on contesting from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency in the next general election, setting aside sitting MP Daggubati Purandeshwari.

“My attachment with Visakhapatnam is more than 30 years old, whereas Purandeshwari is just five-year old MP in Vizag. If you ask people of Visakhapatnam as to who their MP is, they still take my name, not hers. Such is my reputation and I have nurtured the constituency strongly,” Subbarami Reddy said.

He, however, hastened to add that the selection of the candidates would be finally done by the Congress high command.

“I said I would contest from Visakhpatnam in the next elections, only as a reaction to Purandeshwari’s statement that she would represent Vizag next time as well. However, the high command is contemplating shifting her to Narsaraopet,” TSR said.

Obviously, Subbarami Reddy wants to provoke Purandeshwari, who earlier said she was one of the closest associates of Rahul Gandhi and that she was sure to get the Visakhapatnam seat again.
