An overenthusiastic report carried by TV9 Telugu news channel on the arrest of former minister and Secunderabad Cantonment MLA P Shankar Rao has drawn flak from the Crime Investigation Department on Wednesday.

Additional Director General of CID T Krishna Prasad flatly refuted the news report carried by TV9 news channel that he had submitted a report to DGP V Dinesh Reddy on his inquiry into the arrest of Shankar Rao. The news report, quoting Krishna Prasad, said he had recommended departmental action against Neredmet Circle Inspector and Sub-Inspector for behaving rudely with Shankar Rao and that the latter had not cooperated in the investigation.

“This news absolutely false and no report was submitted in this regard. I have not issued any statement in this regard to any news channel,” Krishna Prasad said, adding that if there is any information to be shared, the same will be done as and when it is required.
