Tummala Outwits Nama In DCCB Polls!

The Telugu Desam Party, which has managed to win just one District Cooperative Central Bank post in Khammam thanks to the cooperation extended by the Communist Party of India, is heading for a split due to stiff competition for the DCCB chairman post.

Former minister and Sattupalli MLATummala Nageshwara Rao, who played a key role in the TDP’s victory in the DCCB elections, used his clout with party president N Chandrababu Naidu and got the DCCB chairman post to his close associate M Vijaya Babu. This has resulted in serious differences among the TDP members, led by B Ramesh Babu. Though the party leadership tried to pacify him stating that he could share the DCCB chairman post with Vijaya Babu by holding the post for two and a half years each, Ramesh Babu did not relent.

He announced that he would be quitting the TDP and announcing his future course of action very soon. He is expected to take a few directors along with him. There is a strong belief that Ramesh Babu has the backing of TD Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageshwara Rao, as everybody knows Nama and Tummala do not see eye to eye in the district. If Nama revolts, then it would be a major blow to Naidu!
