Telangana Rashtra Samithi, who made a desperate attempt to woo the leaders from other parties particularly the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party, still has high hopes on its Operation Akarsh.
TRS legislator K T Rama Rao, son of party president K Chandrasekhara Rao, told the media that there were still many leaders who were in touch with the TRS and were willing to join the party anytime. Reacting to the statement made by Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy that KCR had tried to lure him into the party, KTR said the TRS would go selective in admitting leaders from other parties.
“Many MLAs from other parties are still interested in joining the TRS. But we want to be very selective,” he said.
It was true that some Telangana Congress leaders and a few TDP leaders had evinced interest in joining the TRS. However, situation changed drastically after the all-party meeting on Telangana held by Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. While the Telangana TDP leaders stayed back with the party taking a pro-Telangana stand, the Telangana Congress leaders are still hopeful that there would be a favourable decision on the statehood issue and there is no need to give credit to the TRS.
