Botsa Changes Stand, Attends Jai AP Rally

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, who has said several times in the past that there is nothing wrong in having two states for Telugu-speaking people, has taken a sudden  U-turn and attended the “Jai Andhra Pradesh” rally organised by Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar.

The meeting was essentially meant for running down the Telangana movement and establishing the theory that the State has to remain united. Vundavalli gave a ferocious speech, explaining how the then Hyderabad government had “begged” educated people from Seemandhra to come to Hyderabad to run the administration, as the literacy levels in Telangana region were low. He proudly narrated the way the Andhra people had demolished the Nizam government, thereby indirectly hinting that they would crush the Telangana leadership.

By attending the Rajahmundry rally, the PCC president clearly displayed his opposition to the Telangana. However, he tried to defend himself saying he had attended the meeting in his individual capacity and not as the PCC chief.

“I will convey the feelings expressed at this meeting to the high command and abide by whatever decision it will take,” he said.
