The stage is set for the defection of Komatireddy brothers – Bhongir MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi sooner or later.
On Friday, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy met Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao at his residence in Banjara Hills. Both of them are understood to have discussed the fallout of the statement of AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad deferring the Telangana statehood issue. The TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao is understood to have invited them Komatireddy brothers into his party to strengthen the Telangana cause.
Speaking to the media later, Komatireddy said he would take a serious decision if the Congress high command does not come out with a positive statement on Telangana. He accused the party leadership of succumbing to the pressure tactics of Seemandhra leaders.
In a way, Komatireddy brothers have given a shock to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. They were originally expected to go into the Jagan party, but with the changed scenario on Telangana issue, they have decided to shift their loyalties to the TRS.
