For the outside world, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana may appear to be not against Telangana state formation as he often says there was nothing wrong to have two states for the Telugu speaking people.
But, heart in hearts, the PCC president is dead against Telangana. It was evident from the way he had shown the exit door to R Sailesh Reddy, the enterprising and dynamic head of Zee 24 Ghantalu channel, within a month of taking over the channel. Reason is simple: Sailesh Reddy is an out and out pro-Telangana media person and his ideology was reflecting in the news channel till he was leading it.
In fact, it was Sailesh Reddy who had prevented the channel from being wound up after its parent organisation Zee News decided to close it down for want of revenue. He first tried to rope in Ramky Group of Industries to take over the channel, but the latter backed out at the last moment after it was implicated by the CBI in the alleged illegal assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Later, when Botsa was looking for launching his own television channel, Sailesh proposed that he could take over Zee 24 Ghantalu, which already has a lot of name and fame in the media circles.
After taking over the channel, Botsa gave a rude shock to Sailesh by bringing in Sivaprasad from CVR News as channel head. Since there cannot be two heads for one channel, Sailesh realised that his days are numbered. So, he quietly walked out a few days ago. Botsa, who also brought in senior journalist Zakeer, reportedly told the staff that there should not be any pro-Telangana news in the channel.
