Though union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has categorically declared that there was no proposal to postpone the all-party meeting to be held on December 28 to restart the dialogue on Telangana issue, the Seemandhra leaders seem to be making behind the screen efforts to get it postponed to a later date.
Sources said Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has intensified his lobbying through some of his cabinet colleagues and also through union finance minister P Chidambaram to see that the all-party meeting is postponed, so that he would peacefully conduct the World Telugu Conference.
“If his lobbying is successful, the all-party meeting would get postponed by a couple of weeks,” sources said.
Minister for school education S Sailajanath indirectly confirmed this. He said there were chances of the all-party meeting getting postponed because of the World Telugu Conference being held in the last week of December.
“If in any case, the all-party meeting is held as scheduled, I am ready to go the meeting, rather than the Telugu conference,” the minister said.
