Indira Priyadarshini Devi, mother of Ex Sakshi CEO, Priyadarshini Ram passed away last Tuesday in Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. She was 81 and had been valiantly battling a prolonged fatal lung disease.
A graduate in Arts & Education, veteran agriculturist, avid traveller and active member of many community service organizations such as the Lions Club, her condition had been deteriorating since the last 6 months. She was admitted to Apollo Hospitals three months back and has been there ever since till her demise.
Having lost her husband Late P.H. Reddy in 1979, she was the sole pillar of strength for her two sons, Priyadarshini Ram and Siddhartha Reddy. Siddhartha Reddy, her elder son, is a former personal advisor to then Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi and his wife, Smt. D.K. Thara Devi is a former Union Minister from Karnataka in the then P.V. Narasimha Rao cabinet.
An active social worker for over 20 years, Smt. Indira Priyadarshini Devi earned many awards for her contribution to society, particularly for initiating numerous welfare schemes for disabled people. She also had a fond liking for greenery and would climb 66 steps everyday to greet her rooftop garden which has over 150 varieties of potted plants.
Her 11th day ceremony will take place tomorrow at her Jubilee Hills Check Post residence.
