No doubt, power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has a lot of fan following in East and West Godavari districts.
The reason is simple: both the districts are dominated by Kapus, who treat the mega family with a lot of respect and reverence.
But that seems to have given the impression to Pawan Kalyan that the voters of the Godavari districts will blindly follow whatever he says and vote for whomever he suggests.
On Friday, addressing a meeting at Bhimavaram, Pawan claimed that the TDP-BJP combine had won 15 out of 15 seats in West Godavari, just because he had campaigned for the combine.
“Just a word from me fetched 15 out 15 seats to the TDP in West Godavari district. But the Chandrababu Naidu government has failed to live up to my expectations. He could not fulfil any of the promises he has made. In the next elections, we will win all the 15 seats and show what we can do to the people,” Pawan said.
The TDP leaders have strongly refuted Pawan’s tall claims.
“We had won the local body elections in more than 40 mandals in West Godavari much before Pawan came into picture. It was completely wrong on his part to claim credit for our victory,” a TDP senior said.
If Mega family wields so much influence in East and Wet Godavari districts, one wonders why Chiranjeevi, who is more popular than Pawan Kalyan, lost miserably in Palakollu constituency in West Godavari district. In fact, Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam could win just one seat in the 2009 elections!
