The presence of former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal along with Telugu Desam Party leaders at the Gannavaram airport to receive Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday morning surprised many people.
It is not known whether Lagadapati’s presence at the airport was just accidental or he had really come there along with TDP ministers Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao and Prathipati Pulla Rao, besides other officials and TDP leaders to receive Kumaraswamy. But it definitely raised a lot of curiosity among the media persons.
For quite some time, there has been a talk that Lagadapati is getting closer to the TDP, though he had denied several times in the past that he had quit active politics.
But with all his business ventures running into huge losses, he has been running around the camp office of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to bail him out of the financial crisis.
The TDP chief tried to help him out in continuing the power purchase agreement with Lanco Kondapalli power.
Occassionally, Lagadapati has also been giving regular feedback on people’s mood on the TDP government, so as to help Naidu to take corrective measures.
In any case, it is now an open secret in the media circles in Vijayawada that Lagadapati has come closer to the TDP and there is no surprise if he takes a plunge into active politics once again through the TDP in 2019 elections.
